Columbia SHRM partners with JA

Columbia SHRM has partnered with Junior Achievement of Greater South Carolina to provide volunteers for classroom experiences as a part of our workforce readiness initiative.  Junior Achievement (JA) is the world’s largest organization dedicated to giving students from kindergarten through high school the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices.  Founded in 1919, JA currently reaches more than 4.8 million students per year in 109 markets across the United States.

Columbia SHRM has committed to providing JA with volunteers from the chapter to teach at a school in the area.  In return, JA will work to place each volunteer in a conveniently located school and provide all the training, materials, and teaching guides.  In addition, the chapter Board unanimously voted to provide financial support to assist JA in its mission to empower young people to own their economic success.

If you have any questions or you are interested in volunteering to help prepare our future workforce, contact Elizabeth Blake at elizabeth.blake@ja.org with JA or Columbia SHRM's Workforce Readiness Chair, Terry Baggott, Terry.Baggott@admin.sc.gov.
